Search Kentucky DOC Releases

To find someone released from Kentucky DOC community custody after a Livingston County sentence, use the statewide offender and discharge sources. A state offender may be held in a prison, county jail contract bed, or reentry placement outside Livingston County. The current McCracken roster is not a statewide custody history. Kentucky DOC release confirmation requires the individual offender record, the date-specific release report, and supervision information where applicable. A move between DOC placements remains custody, while parole and other community statuses can follow prison release without ending the sentence relationship.

Kentucky DOC Release Paths

A person sentenced from Livingston County can be assigned anywhere in Kentucky’s corrections system. No state prison was identified inside Livingston County. Kentucky State Penitentiary is nearby in Eddyville, but it is in Lyon County. Geography cannot establish placement. The individual Kentucky Online Offender Lookup, known as KOOL, is the authoritative public starting point.

KOOL can show a prison location, a community-supervision status, historical offender information, and sentence-related dates. A move to another DOC institution or contract bed is a transfer. Parole is release from prison under conditions, not final discharge. “Discharged” generally means the DOC sentence or supervision relationship ended, but quote the exact label and date displayed.

Important: Never turn a KOOL projected date, parole eligibility date, or proposed date into a guaranteed release date.

Where Livingston Releases Occur

Livingston Fiscal Court contracts with McCracken County Jail to house all Livingston detainees. The common path is arrest in Livingston County, transport by the Livingston County Jailer, booking and custody in McCracken County, then release or transfer from that physical facility. Court authority remains tied to the Livingston case. This creates a two-county record trail that a one-site name search cannot fully show.

A direct release from McCracken may follow bond, recognizance, time served, sentence expiration, dismissal-related authority, probation, or another valid order. A disappearance from the current roster can also mean transfer to Kentucky DOC, another county, a hospital, the U.S. Marshals Service, or ICE. That is why “not listed” means only that the person is not displayed on the current roster. It does not name the last custody event.

Confirm Livingston Release Records

Start with custody class, not a familiar facility name. A local arrest points to McCracken. A state sentence points to the Kentucky Online Offender Lookup. A federal sentence points to BOP. A documented immigration transfer points to ICE. The complete Livingston County released-inmate search and records path is set out on the Livingston County released inmates home page.

  1. Search the official McCracken current-inmate gateway with name variants and record the access time.
  2. Check the matching Kentucky VINE agency record for a custody change.
  3. Read the Livingston court docket and obtain the public order from the clerk.
  4. Call McCracken with the full name and booking context to ask whether the last event was release or transfer.
  5. Request the booking summary and release event when written proof is needed.

Use at least two sources. The jail event shows physical custody, while the court record shows legal authority. If a receiving agency appears, continue with that agency. A transfer is continuing custody, not a community release.

Get Livingston Jail Records

For a historical event before closure, contact the records custodian identified by Livingston County and describe the existing record precisely. Useful identifiers include full name, aliases, date of birth when appropriate, arrest date, booking number, and arresting agency. Ask whether older material has moved to archive and which Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives schedule controls it.

For a current Livingston arrest, send the physical-custody request to McCracken’s official records custodian. Ask for the booking summary and release portion, including booking and release time, release type or reason code, code legend, releasing authority, public bond fields, and receiving agency when the event was a transfer. A separate Livingston Jailer request can seek transport or routing records. The Livingston court clerk, not the closed jail, supplies court orders.

Release
An authorized end to that facility’s custody.
Transfer
A move to another custodian while confinement continues.
Disposition
The court’s outcome or action in a case, which is not always the release event.
Expungement
A legal process that can change the public availability of eligible records.

Livingston Jail Contact Record

The address associated with the continuing Jailer’s Office is not an active detention address. It is a routing and administrative contact. The office can help identify a destination and may keep transport, fee, or locally maintained records. It should not be described as a walk-in jail lobby or current inmate records desk.

Smithland, KY 42081
Phone: 270-928-0432
Fax: 270-928-3606

The elected office survives Kentucky’s jail closure. Officeholders may change, so address a request to the current records custodian rather than assuming the named jailer personally processes it. For present confinement and release details, call McCracken County Regional Jail at 270-444-4730.

Note: Confirm the receiving office before sending a request, since Livingston transport, McCracken custody, and Livingston court records have different custodians.

Livingston Jail Closure History

The May 2005 closure is more than local history. It changes every current release search. Livingston still has an elected jailer who transports arrested people to another jail and takes detainees to court and appointments. The county page reports more than 1,100 inmate transports per year. Those movements explain why an administrative Livingston record can coexist with a McCracken booking and a Livingston court case.

Nearby Kentucky State Penitentiary adds another source of confusion. It is in Eddyville, Lyon County, not Livingston County. A Livingston sentence can result in placement there or at another DOC institution, but only the individual KOOL record identifies the actual state location. Never infer the facility from geography. Likewise, no federal prison or ICE detention center was identified in Livingston County. Those systems become relevant only when a federal case, register number, detainer, or transfer record supports the connection.

The closed-jail fact is the page’s distinctive local angle: the name survives, the constitutional jailer remains active, and custody takes place elsewhere. Each part produces a different record.

Livingston Bond Release Routing

Livingston’s official page says bonds are posted at the Livingston County Justice Center during normal business hours. After normal hours, a bond may be posted at McCracken County Jail. Property bonds can be completed only at the Justice Center and require judicial authorization. This location split reflects the same divide between case authority and physical custody.

Recognizance, surety, unsecured, cash, partially secured, and property bonds can all lead to pretrial liberty when the required authority is processed. Bond does not end the case and does not establish innocence or guilt. Another hold may also prevent physical departure after a bond is posted. Confirm the court order, ask the jail whether all holds cleared, and obtain the release timestamp. If the jail released the person to another agency, record that as a transfer.

A precise record request works better than asking whether someone “got out.” Request the bond posting event, release reason code and legend, releasing authority, timestamp, and receiving agency field. Those pieces distinguish community release from continued custody.
